Arrivals and Departures

The key turned as easily as it had years ago and without much effort the armored figure pushed open the door and entered a familiar common room. From under a worn canvas hood, the man’s eyes drift slowly over the great table to the sparing area, becoming slightly unfocused as he is lost to a sudden influx of memories. Several moments pass to find the man shaking his head and tapping his temple with the rusted palm of his gauntlet, Mumbling quietly to himself “focus, soldier…. focus”.
Making his way quickly past the mats and sparing dummies he enters the armory at the rear of the structure. He slowly begins to unencumber himself of many items placing them with their like among the racks. Weapons crafted by artisans of the region, an Elvish long bow, a warhammer made for him by an old friend, special arrows, bottles of alchemist fire, all manner of things find their place among the racks and chests. With a clanking of metal he makes for the staircase and travels down to the library. A small smile creeps onto his face as he is confronted by racks and racks of books. Carefully removing a small box from his bag he places it on the library table with a note written in plain block lettering “For Vincent”.
He slowly makes his way to the front door, the key once again turning easily in the lock, he turns and looks again at the Hall. A look of quite satisfaction steals over his countenance. He tosses the key with the two crimson C’s wrought into its head towards the great table . The last thing he hears before the door closes and locks behind him is the key sliding to a stop on its surface. Hoisting his shield higher on his back, he pulls his hood a little lower over his face and walks out into the stormy night of Dragon Dale.
